During a session held this Wednesday (25) at , a speech by the deputy Raimundinho from JR () generated repercussions when directed to the colleague Olivia Santana (). The parliamentarian was honoring the deputy on her birthday when he used the expression “black woman with a white heart”, which prompted an immediate reaction in the plenary.
At the time, Raimundinho stated that Olivia would be “a wonderful person”, but the choice of words was interpreted as inappropriate. The deputy then asked to speak and, firmly, made a public comment, highlighting that she understood her colleague’s intention, but considered it necessary to punctuate her speech.

Olívia Santana responded directly to the comment and reaffirmed her identity. She declared that she was proud to be a black woman, highlighting that her body is entirely black and that her heart “has red blood pulsing”, in reference to equality between people.
The episode occurred during the House’s ordinary session and quickly gained repercussions on social media, with debates about structural racism and the importance of being careful with expressions used in institutional spaces.
The Legislative Assembly of Bahia did not officially comment on the case until the last update of this article.
