The former federal deputy (-SP), who is participating this week in CPAC, considered the biggest conservative event in the world, said that the former president (PL) remains the main leader of the right in Brazil and “of course he talks about politics with visits” in prison.

HOUSE ARREST
After Alexandre de Moraes’ decision to grant house arrest to former president Bolsonaro for 90 days, Eduardo says that the minister “has already saved Bolsonaro’s lifespan with all the stress he took in a surreal conviction and an even more unnecessary prison sentence.”
The former president was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison by the Supreme Court for leading a coup attempt. The former deputy states that, with Bolsonaro staying at home, he will have access to “medical monitoring closer to home and, eventually, go to the hospital at the same time”.
The decision came after the former president was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia due to bronchoaspiration — he will be discharged this Friday (27). Eduardo admits that he is not aware of the details of the conditions for visits, but states that, with Bolsonaro in prison, “his private and public lives are confused.” “Of course they’re going to talk politics,” he said. “Bolsonaro continues to be the leader of the right.”

Eduardo avoids pointing out who should be the nominee to be Flávio’s deputy and does not comment on the chances of (PP) and the former governor of Minas (Novo). “It depends more on his surroundings, on Rogerio Marinho [coordenador da campanha do PL]. My part is international,” he says.
Flávio has already stated that, if elected, his brother will be the chancellor of Brazil. The former deputy, however, states that it is too early to talk about the position, and that he “welcomes with joy” the possibility. “But, nothing is certain.”
Still talking about the team that could be formed in his brother’s eventual mandate, he says that “Flávio has an excellent relationship with”, former minister of . “I don’t know the appetite to return to public life.”
Regarding the relationship between former first lady Michelle and the presidential candidate, Eduardo says that, “if she was upset by any of Flávio’s actions, they have to sit down to talk and understand each other.” “I think that the decision for Jair Bolsonaro’s Presidency did not, essentially, have to go through it. A party is a hierarchy.”

With Ratinho Junior’s departure from the presidential race, Eduardo believes that the path is paved for Ronaldo Caiado to take over the PSD ticket.
“Caiado is on the right. I don’t consider Eduardo Leite on the right. He’s a social democrat, which is a cute name for a socialist, which is the same as a communist. The communist says he’s going to kill you tomorrow and the socialist says he’s going to kill you next week.”
Eduardo denies that he would divide the votes of the right. “It’s another one in the debate to praise Lula”, he ironizes, who prefers not to compare him with Padre Kelmon, PTB candidate in 2022. “Caiaado’s level of beating, with all due respect to Padre Kelmon, is much higher.”
TRUMP
“Did he confirm that he’s not coming? I know now”, asks Eduardo, surprised by Trump’s absence from the conservative event. “So, I’m going to have to go to the White House”, he laughs, admitting that the fact that the president is not present is a frustration.
“It’s always good to meet him. Wow, he’s in the middle of a war with Iran. It’s certainly a more priority issue. But that doesn’t take away the opportunity to talk to several Brazilians and foreigners and even exchange experiences,” said the former deputy — at the event, names such as federal deputies Julia Zanatta (PL-SC), Mário Frias (PL-SP) and the former federal deputy (PL-RJ), convicted in the coup plot and fugitive from Brazilian justice, are present.
Regarding the possibility of Lula and Trump meeting at the White House, he says it is “a relationship between the two countries”. A meeting with the Republican was expected by the PT government, but a date has not yet been confirmed.
However, in Eduardo’s view, Lula would be trying the opposite. “It is trying to provoke Trump to start the conflict and then try to increase its political capital, claiming to have Brazilian sovereignty,” he says.
The former parliamentarian’s speech is related to the PT member’s speeches with the imposition of tariffs on Brazilian products last year. Eduardo disdains the position. “I don’t think it’s going to work,” he says.
At the time, Bolsonaro’s son was criticized even by allies on the right for the articulations that led to Brazil’s economic sanction.
With his image damaged by the scandal, STF minister Alexandre de Moraes set his sights on Eduardo so that he would once again be the target of the Magnitsky Law, which applies financial sanctions in the United States. Moraes and his wife, Viviane, were sanctioned last year with the measure, which was reviewed in December.
“She can return. Just as she left at the president’s will, all President Trump wants is for her to return. Wherever I go, I have spoken and asked for her return.”
Moraes, last year, said that there was relevant evidence that Bolsonaro’s son was acting to “create an institutional and social environment of instability, with the application of increasing sanctions on Brazilian authorities and economic losses to Brazil.”
With the United States about to classify the CV (Red Command) and PCC (First Command of the Capital) factions as terrorist organizations, Eduardo says he is in favor of the measure and intends to use the event to talk to American government authorities so that the designation can be confirmed.
“Every opportunity you have to make a bad guy’s life worse, count on me to do it,” he says.
The Lula government is against it and has been working to prevent it from happening out of fear that the measure could interfere in the elections and also open the possibility that the United States could intervene militarily.
For Eduardo, however, the Trump administration would be offering “equipment and intelligence” to combat the factions.
The former federal deputy also said that Joe Biden’s government tried to pressure the Bolsonaro government during the 2022 election campaign and that the next election will be “much freer now”. Ahead of elections in 2022, American officials expressed concern about threats from Bolsonaro.
