“Write down this day”: PSD and Chega with joint list for the State Council

André Ventura announced an agreement with PSD on external bodies; and are very close to understanding the Nationality Law. “It’s a very important day for the country.”

The leader of He arrives revealed that he reached agreement with the PSD about the elections for external bodies and announced that the two parties will present a joint list of candidates for State Council.

In a statement to the Assembly of the Republic, André Ventura explained that Chega will nominate a name for the Council of State, but did not want to reveal whether he himself will remain in this body that consults the President of the Republic.

Ventura said he still has no indication “if the Socialist party whether or not you want to be part of this joint list.

Using the d’Hondt method, there would be three members nominated by the PSD, one by Chega and one by the PS, he admitted. “In the broadest hypothesis, it will be the It has two members and the Socialist Party has never had two members in the State Council”, he added.

André Ventura reaffirmed that the PSD and Chega reached a agreement regarding the “names for the “Constitutional Court” (TC).

As I said on Tuesday, this agreement provides for the PSD to nominate two names for TC and Chega one. Chega will nominate the judge Luís Brites Lameiras.

“The privileged interlocutor for this negotiation was the parliamentary leader of the PSD”, but Ventura also spoke with the prime minister and leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro.

“It is clear that there would be no agreement if the two leaders did not agree”, he noted.

Nationality Law

André Ventura also announced that PSD and Chega are “very close” to an understanding on the Nationality Lawand thus overcome the veto of the President of the Republic in the wake of the Constitutional Court’s lead.

“There are diplomas that are in progress and that everyone knows, it is no secret, that negotiations are taking place between the Government and Chega”, stated André Ventura, highlighting that “the Nationality Law is obviously not being negotiated with the PS, it is being negotiated with Chega”, as well as the return law.

The president of Chega announced that they are “very, very close to having a final understanding on the new law, which will be confirmed by the Assembly of the Republic”, which he classified as “a victory for the country”.

“It is very well underway so that we can, in the next few days, have finalized the new Nationality Law, overcoming the veto of the President of the Republic and the Constitutional Court“, he indicated.

Andre Ventura refused, however, reveal great details about the new version of the law, indicating that there was “mutual openness” and providing news for the next few days.

The Chega leader said that the party is working with the PSD to “ensure that there is a Nationality Law that guarantees things like: whoever commits crimes loses their nationality.”

He added that his party is being more demanding on the issue of “attribution of nationality”.

According to the Chega deputy, there must be a proposal from the government and another from Chega, “which means that both will probably also be approved in a joint final law”.

O “parliament will not be a blocking force to what has to be done”, he predicted.

Ventura anticipated that the agreement he announced between Chega and PSD in relation to external bodies could “probably be the first step towards resolving a series of dossiers that are blocked and that now, in the coming days, weeks, will be unblocked in the Assembly of the Republic as a result of this, the attempt to find consensus and the attempt to reach joint solutions”.

Take note of this day, it is a very important day for the countrybecause it is the day when the Assembly of the Republic, working together, begins to do what it has to do, which is to provide solutions within a political majority”, he defended.
