Marina defends respect for evangelicals to reduce resistance to Lula

Former Minister of the Environment also says that she will work with a “broad front”, but that she will not sit down with Braskem “scoffers” and miners

Former Minister of Environment and Climate Change, (Rede) said, this Monday (8.Jun.2026), to Poder360 It is necessary to treat evangelicals with “respect”. The statement was made when asked about resistance from the evangelical electorate to the PT and the president’s government.

“Treat people with respect. We are in a democracy and people have the right to choose in an election that what we have to look at are the proposals, the work that has already been done, the results already achieved. From there, people will make their decisions, whether those who believe, those who don’t believe”, he stated.

Marina spoke about the topic during the 4th National Meeting of PT Evangelicals and Evangelicals, at the party’s national headquarters, in Brasília. The event was organized by the party’s National Interreligious Sector, the PT’s National Center for Evangelicals and Evangelicals and the Perseu Abramo Foundation.

“People know when things are in accordance with those most vulnerable. Jesus’ little brothers, as he used to say: ‘When I was hungry, you gave me something to drink. When I was in prison, you visited me’. This is how we are going to dialogue. Respecting people. No one is forced to use their faith through politics, nor should politics be used by faith.”added the former minister.
