At least 46 paramedics and five medics have already died in the Israeli attacks in Lebanon. The Minister of Health describes the bloodiest day since the fighting broke out.
Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nasiruddin announced on Saturday that since the start of the war against the Lebanese militant movement Hezbollah, 46 rescuers and five medics have been killed in Israeli attacks. TASR informs about it based on the AFP report.
- A total of forty-six rescue workers have been killed so far in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
- In addition to the rescuers, five paramedics came from the beginning of the fight for life.
- Nine rescue workers active in the affected areas died on Saturday alone.
- The four dead paramedics belonged to the Islamic Medical Committee of Hezbollah.
- The regional war began on March 2 with shelling of northern Israel by Hezbollah.
Nasiraddin said that nine rescuers died during Saturday. Four of them were part of the Islamic Health Committee, which falls under Hezbollah, and five others were medics from the civil defense of the Amal Shiite movement, which is an ally of Hezbollah. The Israeli attack hit them during rescue operations in the south of Israel.
The war took its toll
Lebanon was drawn into the regional war between Iran, Israel and the United States on March 2 when Hezbollah began shelling northern Israel. The Israeli army responded with attacks on targets attributed to Hezbollah in Lebanese territory and an invasion in the south of the country.
