An estimated eight million people took part in protests against US President Donald Trump on Saturday, which took place in many cities in the United States, the organizers of these protests announced. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
“At least eight million people gathered today at more than 3,300 events in all 50 states,” said the civil movement “No Kings” in its press release. US authorities did not say how many people attended Saturday’s rallies.
The protests were mostly peaceful, but federal authorities used tear gas, “due to protesters throwing large concrete blocks, bottles and other objects” near the Los Angeles Federal Detention Center, police reported on the X Network. According to police, several protesters were detained for disobeying a call to disperse.
It was already the third wave of protests in less than a year within the “No Kings” civil movement. which became the most prominent display of opposition to Trump since his second term began in January 2025. The new impetus for the protesters is the war against Iran, which Trump launched together with Israel on February 28.
The organizers say that the number of participants increased by approximately one million and the number of events by 600 compared to the last demonstrations in October. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson called the protests the product of “leftist financial networks” with minimal real public support. According to her statement, “only reporters who are paid to report on them” are interested in them.
