Hundreds of anonymous bomb threats bombarded Ukraine. The police are checking over a thousand reports

Ukrainian police have been dealing with hundreds of anonymous bomb threats in schools, offices and banks since Monday. Authorities are talking about a possible Russian disinformation operation.

Since Monday morning, Ukrainian police have been facing a surge of anonymous bomb threats. E-mails with anonymous reports about the planting of bombs in buildings were received by state administration bodies, local governments, educational institutions, companies, organizations, banks and other institutions, the Ukrainian police announced in a post on the Telegram platform cited by Le Monde newspaper, writes TASR.

The police specified that by 1:50 p.m. local time, they had received 1,216 reports, of which they had processed 20 percent so far, and in none of the cases was the threat confirmed.

New security measures

According to bomb disposal service security protocol, dogs, investigation and response teams are always dispatched to the site.

The authorities in Ukraine assume that it could be a “new disinformation operation” on the part of Russia, added Le Monde.
