The Social Democratic Party (PSD) is “dating” to place the former governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), as vice on Ronaldo Caiado’s ticket. The information was verified by Young Pan.
The governor of Goiás to the Presidency of the Republic for the PSD. This will be the second time that Caiado will run for office — the first occurred in 1989, in the election that marked the return of direct voting after redemocratization, when he finished in tenth place.

O PSD ended internal discussions on choosing a name for the presidential race with the definition by Whitewashed as a pre-candidate. The decision comes after the withdrawal of Junior Mouse and the loss of strength of the option for Eduardo Leiteconsolidating Caiado as the party’s main bet for the race for Planalto.
Leite regrets PSDB decision
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, supported Caiado’s candidacy for president and signaled that his political journey does not end with a party deliberation.
“This decision disenchants me and so many other Brazilians because of the way they insist on doing politics in our country,” said Leite, in a video published on social media, without mentioning Caiado by name.
The governor said he had received, in recent days, expressions of support from political leaders, economists and civil society — all, according to him, pointing in the same direction. “There is a strong desire in Brazil, perhaps still silent, but very real, for more balance, for more common sense,” he said.
Leite defended what he called the liberal democratic center — “not as a position of convenience, but as a commitment to conciliation” — and directly criticized the party’s choice. “The decision taken tends to maintain the environment of radicalized polarization that limits our country”, he stated. And he left the message: “If not now, it will be soon. Brazil will find its way back to balance.”
