Trump is willing to end the war even without reopening Hormuz, says WSJ

According to information from the Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump told his advisors that he is willing to end the military campaign against Iran. This even though the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, leaving a complex operation to reopen it for a later date, pointed out the publication, which cites government officials.

Trump and his team assessed that an operation to reopen Hormuz would prolong the war beyond the four- to six-week time frame previously established by Trump.

Trump reportedly decided that the US should achieve the following objectives: weakening Iran’s navy and its missile arsenal and decreasing current hostilities, putting pressure on Tehran to resume the free flow of trade.

If this tactic fails and the country stops the flow of ships in the region, Trump would pressure allies in Europe and the Gulf to take over reopening Hormuz.
