Moncarapacho celebrates tradition with Cerro da Cabeça Festival

Next Monday, April 6th, with the support of the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia, the traditional Festa do Cerro da Cabeça, a popular celebration with more than 70 years of history.

The event keeps one of the most emblematic traditions of the municipality of Olhão alive, annually bringing together the community around moments of conviviality and sharing.

Held on the Monday following Easter Sunday, the party begins early in the morning, with the usual picnic.

Among the most characteristic elements of this celebration are the folar and the first snails of the year, which continue to attract families and groups of friends to Cerro da Cabeça.

Music and entertainment in the afternoon

Starting at 3:00 pm, the program includes a dance led by Silvino Campos, providing moments of music and dance for the participants.

The climb to the Cerro da Cabeça viewpoint is also one of the traditions associated with the event, offering a privileged view of the region.

Over the decades, the Cerro da Cabeça Festival has established itself as one of the most popular in the eastern Algarve, attracting organized tours from various locations in the region.

In other times, it was common for employers to dismiss workers to allow them to participate in this festive moment.

The Parish of Moncarapacho extends an invitation to the community, calling for participation in this celebration: “the entire population and visitors to join this unique celebration, which honors tradition, reinforces community ties and values ​​the cultural identity of the region”.
