The Moldovan parliament approved the termination of the membership agreement in the Commonwealth of Independent States, bringing the country significantly closer to joining the European Union.

On Thursday, the Moldovan Parliament approved in the second reading the termination of the Treaty on the Establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as the protocol and statutes of this international organization. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which initiated the move, claims that the basic values ​​and principles of the CIS are no longer respected and that this is a necessary and natural step in the interest of joining the European Union, writes TASR according to a report by the Moldpress agency.
