An explosion involving a tanker truck caused a large fire and the closure of one of the main highways in the state of Michigan, in the United States, this Saturday morning (4). The accident occurred on US-131, near the city of Grand Rapids.
According to local portal Fox 17, which cites the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the truck was transporting around 8,000 gallons of gasoline when it suffered the accident around 8 am.
After the collision, the vehicle caught fire and generated an intense ball of flames visible from a distance.

Initial information indicates that two trucks were involved in the accident. Rescue crews transported the drivers to medical care for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Grand Rapids Fire Department.
Reports published by WOOD radio confirm that the tanker truck tipped over before the explosion and that the driver managed to get out of the vehicle in time.
