The “girlboss” era hasn’t disappeared but it has changed a little: Generation Z women have redefined the meaning of success.

About a month ago, we shared the results of a study that, for some, were surprising; for others, they will be a confirmation: one in three Gen Z men thinks they will always love their husband.

Let’s remember that Generation Z involves teenagers and young adults, who are between 13/14 years old and 28/29 years old. They were born between 1997 and 2012.

Now a study appears that focuses on the women, also from Generation Zwhich were presented four possibilities for a “dream life”.

The responses showed that the “girlboss” era is over. At least the peak. The idea of ​​empowering women, of pursuing their dreams – which came to be seen by many as a toxic culture of excessive work and professional burnout. Because women needed (need) to constantly show their worth.

The “girlboss” era has not disappeared but it has changed a little: Gen Z women have redefined the meaning of success – most women choose a stable life, as a traditional wife, rather than having luxury, money and fame.

It’s just that, of the four paths to “dream life”, the most chosen was… being a traditional housewife. 47% of respondents prefer this direction. The magazine even writes that Gen Z women are “obsessed” with becoming traditional wives. Almost half choose to be a stay-at-home mom while sharing their lifestyle online. You want a happy marriage, children and – perhaps – a job, but without burnout; but the man is the one who brings home the money. You want peace and security. Luxury or status are not priorities. The traditional path is not seen as a retreat – it is choosing a balanced life for the long term. It’s the “tradwife”.

In second place, appears the “girlboss dream”with 23% of preferences. These young women are looking for independence, success, even fame – even if it means not having a partner, even if it means sacrificing their personal lives. They tend to prioritize their careers over relationships or marriage. They want recognition and success, but without pushing themselves to the point of exhaustion. Nowadays, they work smarter, at their own pace, with limits.

With 16% of the responses, the life of digital nomad. Teleworking, traveling around the world, a creative life; no children but with a partner. A more fun and relaxed lifestyle, but less stable.

Finally, 14% for the life path “trophy wife”: young, attractive woman who marries a rich man – so she doesn’t have to work. Although it is more of a fantasy than a real plan, it reinforces EduBirdie.
