A newborn baby was found inside a cardboard box on a public road in the Nova Esperança neighborhood, in Barra de Guabiraba, in Agreste de Pernambuco. The case was registered last Thursday night (2).
The child was located after a complaint was sent to the Child Protection Council. Next to the baby, there was a handwritten note with information about the birth and a plea for him to be taken care of.
In the text, attributed to the mother, the author states that she is unable to raise her son. She reports that she already takes care of two other children alone and mentions financial and family difficulties. Furthermore, she writes that the pregnancy was unplanned and asks that the child be well looked after.
After the rescue, the newborn was taken to the Hospital da Mulher do Agreste, in Caruaru. According to initial information, he remains hospitalized in stable condition and is receiving medical monitoring.
The case was registered by the Caruaru Police Station as abandonment of an incapacitated person. Investigations are ongoing to identify the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Guardianship Council monitors the situation and adopts the necessary measures to guarantee the protection of the child.
