Chamber brings together confederations to debate PEC on a 6×1 scale

The Proposal gained strength in the public debate after movements on social media in 2024 and returned to the legislative agenda in 2026 with pressure from workers in favor of reducing working hours

The meeting will bring together representatives from four major national employers’ confederations.

The Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJC) of Chamber of Deputies will hold, this Tuesday (7), a public hearing to debate the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC 221/19), which provides for the end of the 6×1 work schedule. The meeting is scheduled for 2pm, in Plenary 01 of Annex II, and was called at the request of deputy Paulo Azi.

The meeting will bring together representatives from four major national employers’ confederations. The executive manager of Labor and Union Relations of the National Transport Confederation (CNT), the lawyer of the National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), the labor coordinator of the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA) and the superintendent of Labor Relations of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) will participate. Everyone confirmed their presence.

The audience marks the It is the first time that organized sectors of industry, agribusiness, commerce and transport will be formally heard by the commission on the topic.

The PEC, which has been in progress in the Chamber since 2019, gained strength in the public debate after movements on social media in 2024 and returned to the legislative agenda in 2026 with pressure from workers in favor of reducing working hours.
