US President says that, after “failing miserably with tariffs”, judges need “common sense” when analyzing the issue
The president of the United States, (Republican Party), criticized the Supreme Court when talking about automatic citizenship by birth for children of undocumented immigrants and foreigners with temporary stay visas in the country. On the Truth Social platform in the early hours of this Monday (April 6, 2026), he stated that the Court should use “common sense” when analyzing the topic.
The Supreme Court analyzes a Trump ruling that children of undocumented immigrants born in the US can no longer be considered US citizens. Until the Court decides on the matter, the text is not in force.
Trump’s decree mentions the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which describes that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State in which they reside.”explaining that this amendment served to end the exclusion of granting citizenship to people of African descent solely based on ethnicity.
Trump, however, says the 14th Amendment should not be used to “extend citizenship universally to everyone born in the United States”.
In the publication made on Truth Social, Trump refers to the program “”in which the presenter argued against birthright citizenship.
The North American classified it as a “scam to make money” and stated that the Supreme Court justices “They should use their common sense for good.” from the USA.
“They failed miserably with tariffs, needlessly costing the US hundreds of billions of dollars in potential refunds for the benefit of haters and scammers. Why??? Don’t do it again! The country can only withstand so many bad decisions from a Court that doesn’t seem to care.”he wrote.
When talking about tariffs, Trump referred to the Supreme Court’s decision on February 20 that those applied by the Republican government are illegal.
The Court’s majority understanding is that the president cannot create tariffs on his own without express authorization from Congress. The North American Constitution gives the Legislature the power to impose taxes and import tariffs. Here is the decision (PDF – 738 kB, in English).
