Kassab defends new federative pact to strengthen municipalities

The national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassabdefended this Monday (6), during the 68th State Congress of Municipalities, in São Paulo, a new federative pact as a way to strengthen municipalities.

“Only with a new federative pact, only with an administrative reform, that reduces the burden of the state government, its funding, so that they can make ends meet”, defended Kassab. “Few municipalities have enough resources to maintain their costs, much less investments,” said the politician.

District Vote

The former mayor of São Paulo also defended the implementation of district voting in Brazil. “We urgently need to get this issue discussed, so that this project is approved in the ”, said Kassab.

“It is with the district vote that the municipalities will have their representatives, in , committed with much greater intensity to their region”, explained Kassab. “It is with the district vote that the voter is able to choose much more clearly, that the voter is able to make fewer mistakes, that the voter is able, after electing his district or federal deputy, to follow his actions”, he added.

Judiciary Reform

Kassab too defended the reform of the Judiciary, with a minimum age for new members and quarantine for new ministers of higher courts. “The main measure for transforming our judiciary is the approval by the National Congress of a minimum age for new members, so that each new member of a higher court is not under 60 years old”, defended Kassab.

“The minimum age of 60 years will give a maximum term of office of 15 years and this measure needs to be accompanied by an 8-year quarantine so that its member only contests the election after 8 years”, he explained.
