After being quoted by , and to be part of the platform of Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) in São Paulo, , , says that it did not speak to the president to .
In her first interview since the announcement, she acknowledges the Sheet that the definition of his role in the election will necessarily pass through the PT member, but reiterates the plan to run for the Senate — alongside (PSB) and allied with (PT), which will try for the São Paulo government for the second time against Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
The former minister, who previously governed São Paulo, is competing with her for this position on the ticket. He .
The decision to run for the Rede-PSOL federation takes place while, in parallel, seeking legal action.
The election was won by Heloísa Helena, under accusations of persecution and interference, and generated a stampede.
In a statement, the Network’s spokesperson, Paulo Lamac, said that the accusations are a “destructive policy” by Marina’s group that “tries to weaken the party electorally”, and that the interventions made during the elections respected the status of the party.
“Candidacies will be defined at party conventions. The Network gives national priority to candidacies for federal deputies and exceptions must be approved nationally. We continue to await the statement from the former minister, who has been refusing dialogue with the party. Marina, at no point, expressed to the national leadership her intention to run for the Senate”, he said.
Candidacy for the Senate
I didn’t talk to President Lula [antes]. My decision has been that from the beginning: I am willing to help in the process of maintaining the civilizational coefficient in São Paulo and Brazil. I had a conversation with minister Fernando Haddad about the best alternatives for São Paulo, since thank God we have defined the vice-president [Geraldo] Alckmin and Simone to the Senate. Now it’s time to discuss the best candidate for vice [ao governo] and, in the second vacancy for the Senate, both Márcio França and I are putting our names forward.
We have to be open to collective construction, this is what is being done in São Paulo. I know that I have a potential to contribute, which is expressed in research and in relationships over all these years, but we also have another trajectory, that of Minister Márcio França, a person who has historically had a political and public dedication in São Paulo, and it is also legitimate for him to stand out.
It is necessary to have a balance in this dispute. I defend the idea of the biome and the ecosystem: this great biome of the defense of democracy does not exist strong, using the language of biology, if it is homogeneous. The more diverse the ecosystems are, the stronger it is. This is what gave President Lula victory in 2022, with a broad front.
Therefore, when I decided to stay at Rede, even though I recognize that there are differences, which are being dealt with judicially, I am advocating that the Rede-PSOL ecosystem, which is a relevant political force, should also be represented on the majority ticket. And in my case, everyone recognizes that there is a contribution that goes beyond the federation itself.
Other application possibilities
I’m going to campaign for Haddad and Lula whether I’m a candidate or not.
[A vice de Haddad] It’s something he has to think about and have complete freedom to do so. This is not a question that has been asked.
[Ao mesmo tempo] I feel very honored with the mandate of deputy that was given to me [em 2022]but it is a contribution that has already been made. There are great people, like Marina Helou, Rodrigo Agostinho, Sonia Guajajara, Nabil Bonduki or Paulo Teixeira. Excellent candidates, I want them all to be elected. At this moment, I understand that the way to contribute is by making myself available for the second vacancy in the Senate, based on elements that are very legitimate: the fight against inequalities, defense of diversity, the debate on sustainability, economic development on new bases, at such a challenging time in which climate change is a terrible reality and a state like São Paulo is at risk of a water collapse.
[A definição final será dada] in a dialogue with the parties that make up our biome. I enter as part of the ecosystem.
Permanence on the Network
I continue trying to give coherence to this thesis that I have about the biome. Good thing that [Guilherme] Boulos made the decision not to leave [do PSOL]it was a wise decision. It is impossible for all the nuances of the left-wing, center-left camp to be part of a single party.
We are in a federation. The federation will ensure the candidacy. I haven’t seen anyone from the Network say they don’t accept me being a candidate. This is a house that I helped build: I always said that I was one more, but one more who doesn’t give up being part of it.
When the Network was founded it was a different perspective. There was a change in the statute, in the party’s program, and legitimately, democratically, I would like us to be able to restore what was a plural space where there was room for everyone. It’s even difficult to understand why this is the case now.
The Network recognized democratically elected directories, had no intervention as a practice and was created so that affiliations, if consistent with the party’s program and statute, would not be denied.
Due to these changes, people had to form a kind of diaspora, [o partido] was weakened. Why is there suddenly no place for them?
We are in the same camp, everyone supports President Lula. Divergences are natural, I myself lived within the PT for 25 years with political differences.
[Estivemos juntos] in fighting the fires of 2024. We have some problems. São Paulo is by far the state that has the most technological base, the most financial resources to contribute to a new economic cycle. And it scares me to see the threat of once again — even after everything we went through in 2013, with water shortages, rationing — the risk to the state’s water security.
War and climate change
Brazil is one of the countries that is not immune to the crisis, but is getting through it better, due to having invested in a renewable source of energy, such as biofuels. The war is revealing that we urgently need maps of the path to get out of dependence on the use of fossil fuels. President Lula had a political vision that bordered on the prophetic.
Now scientists are saying that, in the case of Brazil, we could have a terrible heat wave, water, energy and supply crisis. Reality does not change because political decisions are made contrary to it.
