Discussions about the high prices of summer vacations on the Adriatic have been going on for years, but the experience from the island of Vis shows another side of the tourist season. High prices on the Croatian coast have long been one of the main topics among tourists, but not all experiences are the same. A visitor from Zagreb who was enjoying his holiday on the island of Vis was pleasantly surprised by the bill after dinner with his girlfriend.
He shared his experience with the “Zagrebinfo” portal and emphasized that he expected much higher costs considering the reputation that Jadran has built up among visitors in recent years. The couple spent the evening at a restaurant in Vis, where they ordered two pizzas and a few drinks. The total bill reached 36.40 euros.
“I honestly expected the bill to be much higher. We hear stories all the time about overpriced restaurants on the coast, so I thought we would pay a lot more for a lunch like this,” he said. According to an account he provided to the media, a vegetarian pizza cost 13 euros, as did a mixed pizza. For Schweppes and juice with a volume of 0.25 liters they paid 3.70 euros each, a small mineral water Jamnica cost 3 euros.
He was particularly impressed by the high standard of the food. “The pizza was really excellent. The dough, the ingredients and the portion size were of a high standard. After spending a few days on the island, I can say that it was one of the best I have eaten” he added. After dinner, they walked along the promenade and then took a break in a pastry shop. Even there, according to him, the prices were not a surprise. Premium ice cream in a cone cost 1.50 euros. They paid a total of 14.60 euros for several scoops of ice cream and frosting. Premium ice cream and two sorbets cost 3.50 euros each, another ice cream 2.60 euros.
They spent a total of 51 euros for dinner, drinks and dessert, which they consider a perfectly acceptable amount for a tourist destination during the summer season. Their experience shows that, despite many stories about high prices on the Adriatic, it is still possible to find places where the bill will not spoil the impression of the vacation.
