Brazil will be the country of e-Sport, says Ministry of Sports

Márcio Zuba, director of e-Sport at the Ministry of Sports, stated this Tuesday (April 7, 2026) that Brazil will be the “country of electronic sports”. He made the statement during a panel at BiS SiGMA South America 2026, one of the main iGaming, BetTech and sports betting events in Latin America, held in São Paulo from April 6th to 9th.

“Brazil is the country of football, but in our opinion it will be the country of electronic sports. We have great teams, great organizations, great players”he stated.

Zuba said he works to bring information and present e-Sports to municipalities and states. According to him, the goal is to show the potential of electronic sports.

“We can connect young people with the game, but give them education, give them health, give them sport and also give them a tool that is a potential piece of work”, declared Zuba

He also suggests building a training center for low-income youth. “That [centro de treinamento] It will be built in the near future so that we can increasingly develop electronic sports. Training center that can generate a tool for the inclusion of young people, of the most needy adolescents”stated the director of the Ministry of Sports.

BIS SIGMA SOUTH AMERICA

BiS SiGMA is the meeting of companies and professionals from the iGaming, bettech and sports betting sectors in Brazil.

The event takes place from April 6 to 9, 2026, at the Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo.

The conference brings together more than 50 panels and 250 confirmed panelists. According to the organization, the objective is to promote dialogue between different sectors on topics such as the 1st year of betting regulation in the country, the fight against illegality and the possible return of physical casinos.

The event has a media partnership with Poder360which provides coverage with live interviews on YouTube and recording podcasts in a studio set up in the pavilion, with the participation of experts, authorities and businesspeople.
