The Minister of Mines and Energy, (-MG), caused discomfort in the allied base, in Minas Gerais, after praising the president’s main opponent in the state, governor and pre-candidate, Mateus Simões (PSD).
During a speech at the Brazilian Forum of Energy Leaders – Oil and Gas, this Wednesday (8), Silveira stated that Simões is a well-prepared and very decent man. Despite criticizing the management of Romeu Zema (Novo) in MG, the minister wished Simões good luck in the campaign.
The speech is made at a time when Lula is negotiating the candidacy of the senator (PSB-MG) for the state government
“Prepared, very decent guy, as much as President Rodrigo Pacheco is and I’m going to help President Lula and wish them both good luck in Minas Gerais,” he said.
The speech caused discomfort among members of Lula’s base in the state who say that there should be no respite from the campaign.
Allies say that Alexandre Silveira needs to decide which side he is on or he will end up compromising even Rodrigo Pacheco’s candidacy.
Silveira decided not to run as a candidate after a request from President Lula and remained in the government to help coordinate Lula’s re-election campaign.
