Sports Gaming Brasil says the public needs to understand the betting sector

The Business Director of the Esportes Gaming Brasil group, Hugo Baungartner, stated that the betting sector still needs to advance in educating the public to reduce the stigma surrounding the activity. The statement went to Poder360 during , held in São Paulo from April 6th to 9th.

“I think it involves education. Education of the public, politicians and public opinion in general to understand how the sector works”he declared.

According to him, the lack of information means that part of the population is unable to differentiate between legal and illegal operators.

Baungartner also assessed that the regulation of sports betting brought progress to Brazil, after decades without clear rules for the sector.

“Being regulated is much more interesting for Brazil than being unregulated”he stated.

The executive also said that the market is going through a maturation process and should move towards consolidation in the coming years, with a possible reduction in the number of operators.

“We should see a maturation and perhaps a consolidation of the market in the coming months or years”these.

Regarding the legalization of physical casinos, Baungartner stated that Brazil is still an exception on the international scene and that physical and online models tend to coexist.

“They are complementary products, with different audiences. At some point this regulation must happen in Brazil”he declared.
