Englishwoman Jenny Keepe (34) often wore false eyelashes that covered the upper part of her eyes. However, when she decided to take them off during the covid pandemic, her mother noticed an unusual symptom that forced the young woman to seek help. , doctors discovered that there was a tumor in her brain.

The bar manager from the English town of Warrington was at a family barbecue in June 2020 when her mother noticed that her right eye was slightly protruding. “I told her it was definitely nothing. I usually wore false eyelashes so everything looked normal. But since the pandemic was raging at the time, I took them off, so my mother could have a better look at my eye“, she stated.
After the barbecue, Jenny underwent a routine eye exam where the optician discovered a problem in the back of her right eye. A week later, she therefore had to go to the hospital for an MRI, which revealed a serious diagnosis. Jenny was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor known as a meningioma. According to doctors, it could have been caused by contraception containing medroxyprogesterone. “I was in shock, I didn’t expect it at all. I had no other symptoms, not even a headache,” she revealed.
According to experts, contraception containing medroxyprogesterone can increase the risk of meningioma. However, this risk is very low, even with long-term use. “It might not have happened at all if they had told me about the risks. I would have stopped using it immediately. If no one had noticed, the tumor could have grown even more,” explained a devastated Jenny.
After the diagnosis, Jenny underwent two interventions, at whose doctors removed half of the tumor. Thanks to later radiotherapy, her state of health was evaluated as stable. Currently, he has to undergo annual check-ups to see if the tumor continues to grow.
The English woman believes that she should have been warned about the risks and the need to stop contraception much earlier. “No one ever told me about this he did not advise anything. I’m angry that no one thought to tell me to stop using it. I would recommend other women to consider stopping it after a few years and definitely go for preventive examinations and check-ups“, she concluded.
