Around 50 people demonstrated this Saturday in front of the Ministry of Health, in Lisbon, in support of the maintenance of gynecology and obstetrics emergencies and in defense of the National Health Service (SNS).
At the end of the protest, the Public Services Users Movement delivered to the Ministry of Health a motion that includes five demands: investment in the SUS, reinforcement of budgets for the health area, the continuity of primary health care in the public sphere, the guarantee that all users have family health teams and the opening of all obstetrics and gynecology emergencies in all hospitals.
This concentration was the last protest of a week of struggle by the Public Services Users Movement, which demands increased investment in the SUS, defending “a strong, universal and quality public system for all citizens”.
“It is necessary to stop privatization and reinforce public investment in health. It is imperative to improve salaries, careers and working conditions, as well as reinforce human resources”, reads the statement sent to newsrooms.
