The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated this Sunday (April 12, 2026) that Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud-direct), is working to undermine peace negotiations in the Middle East conflicts. In an official note, the government of calls Netanyahu “Hitler of our time”.
“Netanyahu’s current objective is to undermine the ongoing peace negotiations and continue his expansionist policies in the region. If he fails to do so, he risks being tried in his own country and is likely to be sentenced to prison.”stated the note.
Netanyahu and Erdoğan have been exchanging public insults via X over the weekend. On Saturday (11 April), Netanyahu criticized the Turkish government by stating that Erdoğan has no interest in combating terrorism in the region. “Israel, under my leadership, will continue to fight against the Iranian terrorist regime and its allies, unlike Erdoğan, who helps them and massacres his Kurdish citizens”commented Netanyahu.
The Turkish government responded by saying that Israel’s allegations were “unfounded, base and false”. According to the note, the Israeli prime minister faces “accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity” not International Criminal Court. “Under the Netanyahu administration, Israel faces proceedings before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide”stated the note.
“Turkey will continue to stand with innocent civilians and intensify its efforts to ensure that Netanyahu is held accountable for the crimes he committed.”added.
The dispute between Netanyahu and Erdoğan gained prominence after Israel stated that it would not include Lebanon in a ceasefire agreement signed between the governments of the United States and Iran, on Tuesday (7 April).
According to the statement, the proposed truce is limited to the direct axis between Israel, the United States and Iran. “Two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon”Netanyahu’s office said.
The position contradicted the previous statement by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was involved in the peace negotiations and had indicated that the agreement would cover “all areas, including Lebanon”.
