Ghanaian footballer Dominic Frimpong lost his life after his Berekum Chelsea team bus was attacked by a group of armed robbers. The incident occurred on Sunday when the team was returning from a Ghana Premier League match against Samartex in Samreboi in the south of the country.

According to a statement from the club, one of the players suffered serious injuries, but the Ghana Football Association (GFA) later confirmed that 20-year-old winger Dominic Frimpong was killed in the incident. “This tragic event is not only a huge loss for Berekum Chelsea, but also for the whole of Ghanaian football. Dominic was a promising young talent whose determination and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league“, the AP agency quoted GFA as saying.
At the same time, the Federation added that will strengthen security measures for clubs traveling to matches of domestic competitions.
