President stated that either young people study, or Brazil has no chance of competing in a globalized world
The president (PT) stated that young Brazilians have to study so that Brazil has a chance to be “competitive in this globalized world”. Declared: “With Trump on the loose, the chance to compete is more difficult”.
The declaration was made this Tuesday (April 14, 2026) during the sanctioning ceremony of the PNE (National Education Plan), at Palácio do Planalto.
In his speech, the president said that neither “everyone likes it” when talking about education. “We have to convince people, because, if not, people are vulnerable to any speech, no matter how stupid it may be”.
The PT member stated that the PNE will be put into practice over 10 years, but society must “take into account the need for monitoring”. He also said that Brazil needed a president “without university education” to have the concern with education that the other heads of the Executive did not have.
THE EVENT
The president sanctioned this Tuesday (April 14) the new PNE (National Education Plan). The plan defines Brazil’s educational guidelines for the next 10 years. The law contemplates objectives for all levels of education.
The Ministry of Education developed the bill in 2024. The Senate in March 2026. The law establishes governance, transparency, monitoring and commitment of resources to achieve the expected objectives and goals. In total, there are 19 objectives, 8 themes, 73 goals and 372 strategies.
