The President of the United States, (Republican Party), said on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) that a 2nd round of direct negotiations with Iran could be held in the next 2 days. The statement was made to , in a telephone conversation.
According to the newspaper, Trump had initially stated that the discussions were “happening”but “a little slow”. He then indicated that a new round of negotiations to end the war against Iran would likely be held somewhere in Europe. About 30 minutes later, Trump called the publication and said that the negotiations would take place in Pakistan.
“You guys should stay there, actually, because something might happen in the next 2 days, and we’re more inclined to go there.”he declared about Islamabad, the Pakistani capital. “It’s more likely, do you know why? Because the marshal is doing a great job”said Trump, referring to Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir.
“He is fantastic and therefore we are more likely to do business there again. (…) Why should we go to a country that has nothing to do with this?”the US president told the newspaper. “I just think he’s a great guy, this guy. The marshal. You know, he ended the war with India, saved 30 million people.”he declared.
Trump did not say who would represent the US in a possible second round of negotiations, but confirmed that he would not participate.
