The US continues to crack down on ships suspected of smuggling drugs into the country. The latest intervention in the eastern Pacific Ocean claimed three lives.
The U.S. military launched another attack on a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean allegedly carrying drugs. Three people were killed in the attack, the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said on Wednesday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the DPA agency.
Based on intelligence analysis, the ship was following a known smuggling route and was involved in the illegal transportation of drugs, SOUTHCOM said in a post on Platform X. The US military on Tuesday reported the deaths of four people in a similar operation in the same area.
On the orders of US President Donald Trump, the US military has been carrying out attacks in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific Ocean since September 2025 against vessels suspected of transporting drugs to the United States. According to official data, more than 160 people died during them. The US faces a drug problem, which authorities often attribute to foreign smuggling networks. Critics say attacks in international waters violate international law.
