Statement by the US president comes after meeting between Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), used his profile on Truth Social on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) so that leaders from Israel and Lebanon should talk this Thursday (April 16).
In the publication, Trump stated the following: “Trying to create a little space between Israel and Lebanon. It’s been a long time since the 2 leaders have spoken, about 34 years. This will happen tomorrow. Great!”.
The Republican did not give details of the meeting. So far, there has been no confirmation of the meeting from the North American, Israeli or Lebanese governments.
The US Department of War, the Secretary of War, and General Dan Caine, chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, will provide updates on Operation Epic Fury this Thursday (April 16), at 10 am (Brasília time).
The conflict between Israel and the extremist group in Lebanon threatens to compromise the relationship between the US and Iran.
On Tuesday (14 April), after a rare meeting in Washington between the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors, the US announced that both sides had agreed to “start direct negotiations” to put an end to the war.
According to an official source in Lebanon from the broadcaster, “no information” about a possible conversation between Lebanese and Israeli leaders or a 2nd meeting between their ambassadors in Washington.
The Prime Minister of Israel, (Likud, right), used his profile on X on Wednesday (April 15) to instruct them to expand the invasion in southern Lebanon towards the east.
In the publication, Netanyahu said the following: “Our American friends keep us constantly informed about contacts with Iran. Our objectives are the same. Anticipating the possibility of a resumption of fighting, we are prepared for any scenario”.
