The government says it has already invested R$128.5 million in the resettlement of families from Favela do Moinho. According to the Department of Urban Development and Housing, 96% of the changes to the site have already been completed.
In risk areas, there are still families waiting for housing. They are being transferred and the shacks are being demolished.
Of the total disbursed, almost R$100 million went to the acquisition of properties. The work is part of a closed partnership with the Ministry of Cities.
The SP government says it should pay R$60 million, but it got ahead of the federal government
“As the federal government has a certain difficulty in acquiring properties, to operate with Caixa, the state government stepped forward by acquiring these units and now we are making a financial arrangement”, said the state secretary of Urban Development and Housing, Marcelo Branco.
The state management is paying off the properties and sending documentation to reimburse the amounts owed. There is still R$83 million remaining, according to the State.
Furthermore, the Tarcísio government says it invested another R$29 million in the work of social and engineering teams and in payments to families who are still waiting for permanent homes.
