The Iranian Army announced this Saturday its decision to once again restrict transit through the Strait of Hormuz after denouncing that The United States has failed to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreed on April 8 by maintaining its perimeter closure of the area.
In a statement published by the Iranian public radio television, IRIB, the Army explains that, although it agreed “bona fide” and “after prior agreements reached in negotiations” to “allow the controlled passage of a limited number of oil tankers and merchant ships through the strait“, Americans “continue to engage in acts of piracy and banditry under the pretext of an alleged blockade.”
For this reason, the Iranian Army announces that control of the strait returns “to its previous state”, that is, “under the strict administration and control of the armed forces.”
“Until the United States ends complete freedom of movement of ships between Iran and between Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled and in the previous state“adds the Army.
