Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized this Sunday (19) the United States’ decision to temporarily suspend sanctions against Russian oil already transported by sea, stating that “every dollar paid for Russian oil is money for the war” that Moscow is waging against his country.
On Friday (17), it was transported by sea, under sanctions, in an attempt to alleviate pressure on prices caused by the war with Iran.
Zelensky said more than 110 tankers from Moscow’s parallel fleet were currently at sea, carrying more than 12 million tons of Russian oil. He said the possibility of selling it would add $10 billion to Russia’s budget, money that, according to Zelensky, “is directly converted into new attacks against Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian claimed that this week alone, Russia “launched more than 2,360 guided aerial bombs and nearly 60 missiles of various types against our cities and communities.”
He said Ukraine, which attacked two Russian refineries and several other facilities, would continue its attempts to harm Russia’s oil industry.
