It was a complete PR success for Anthropic: The dispute with the US Department of Defense over the use of its own AI models for fully autonomous weapon systems may have cost the AI company its contract with the Pentagon and earned it an entry on the US government’s blacklist. In the broader public, however, the opposition to the wishes of the Trump administration has been met with enthusiasm by many. The result: The usage figures for the chatbot Claude have been exploding for weeks, and in combination with new AI models, Anthropic is also putting a lot of pressure on its eternal competitor OpenAI in the enterprise sector.
