Labor law: minister makes "last effort" and gives UGT 15 days

Last minute

Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho states that “UGT will have to show that it actually wants to get closer and not continue to have pretexts to escape forward”. Minister says that the Government will schedule a meeting with the Social Concertation permanent committee for May 7th.

The Minister of Labor, Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho, reacted this Thursday to the position of the UGT, which rejected for the second time the proposal to change labor legislation presented by the government. Just like the trade union central, the Executive says it is “always available for dialogue”. But the governor leaves a message for UGT.

Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho states that “UGT will have to show that it actually wants to get closer and not continue to have pretexts to escape forward”.

Thus, the minister says that the Government will expect in the coming days “a constructive and clear position from UGT on the few points that remained open in the negotiation process”, and may also make “one last effort” to negotiate.

Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho says that the Government will schedule a meeting with the Social Concertation permanent committee for May 7th, so that there is “time for reflection”.
