Saúde responds to Rosangela Moro on contract with NGO that defends trans children: ‘Fake news’

The Ministry of Health responded, through a note, to a video published by deputy Rosangela Mora (PL-SP) on Wednesday (22). In the post, the congresswoman criticized the participation of the NGO Minha Criança Trans in federal bodies that formulate public policies for the LGBT population.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health stated that it does not allow, does not recommend and does not fund transsexualizing procedures for children under 18 years of age. Furthermore, the position attests that experts and representatives of civil society are heard in the construction of public policies in a consultative, but not decision-making, capacity. Such decisions, completes the statement, follow the law and the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA). “Raising this hypothesis or spreading rumors in this regard only serves as a political platform for those who disseminate fake news”, says the organization.

In the recording, the congresswoman argues that issues related to gender identity and transition procedures must be treated with caution, restricting transition decisions only to those of majority. She, however, does not accuse the government of carrying out these procedures. Rosangela Moro argues that the debate involving children and adolescents in public bodies needs greater institutional rigor. The deputy associates the presence of the NGO on the board with possible inappropriate interference in child health issues.
