Driven by skinificationthat is, the tendency to apply the same principles and active ingredients as facial skincare to the hair and scalp, which haircare (a set of routines and products aimed at health, beauty and hair strengthening) enters a new era.
Now, the dynamics are more strategic, sensorial and guided by high-performance agents. Furthermore, the look turns to the , being treated as an extension of the skin, while the hair root takes center stage, as the starting point for healthier, stronger and more beautiful locks.
Faced with this change in scenario and perspective, care is no longer just a corrective matter, gaining the status of a preventative, sophisticated ritual that is increasingly aligned with the logic of health care.
Second data from WGSN 2028/29hair has been interpreted as a direct indicator of health, driving the search for solutions that integrate nutrition, necessary attention to the skin and other daily rituals. As a result, ingredients already established in skincare gain space in hair formulations, enhancing the effectiveness of treatments.
HAS CNN Brazilor cosmetologist Pedro Guimarãessays that, in Asia, the scalp has been treated as an extension of the skin for a long time. In the West, this view is beginning to mature.
More than a trend, it is about structural change. “Today’s consumer understands labels, researches components and expects real performance. They understand that, when the roots receive adequate attention, the results appear: stronger strands, intense shine and greater durability”, adds the professional, educator at Keune.
Here are five ingredients that are redefining hair care:
- Immortelle Extract: protection against hair aging
Although it is still little explored in the world, immortelle extract has been gaining prominence in more sophisticated formulations, especially aimed at treating the scalp.
Rich in antioxidants, it acts at the source of the problem, combating the molecules responsible for premature aging, contributing not only to the immediate improvement of hair, but to the preservation of hair health over time.
In this sense, the active ingredient plays an important role when it comes to hair longevity, by helping the growth cycle to remain more balanced, maintaining the quality of the hair for longer.
“It protects the follicle, preserving its ability to produce more resistant hair, reduces inflammation and cellular wear and creates a healthier environment for growth”, explains Pedro.
- Orchid: light hydration with sophisticated sensorial
Known in skincare for its antioxidant action, orchid extract forms a delicate film around the fiber, retaining moisture and providing immediate softness, reducing roughness and achieving more shine.
Versatile, it is suitable for all hair types, with more evident effects on dry or slightly damaged locks. “The orchid’s biggest difference is its lightness. It hydrates without weighing it down, which is essential for today’s consumer, who seeks performance naturally”, he highlights.
The compound also protects against everyday external aggressions, reinforcing not only performance, but also the sensorial experience of use. “It delivers not only technical results, but also sensorial results, which today is an important part of the product”, he adds.
- Biomimetic peptides: technology that acts at the root
Among the most advanced haircare solutions, biomimetic peptides stimulate hair growth from the beginning. Cosmetologist Pedro explains that they work on a deep level, strengthening the roots and prolonging the growth phase.
“Peptides were developed to imitate the body’s natural signals and are the messengers that guide the behavior of follicle cells. With continuous use, they contribute to growth and strengthening, in addition to reducing hair loss”, he says.
Its performance increases when combined with other assets. “When you combine peptides with centella asiatica and marine infusion, for example, you create more complete care: it stimulates, balances and nourishes the scalp at the same time”, declares the cosmetologist.
- Centella asiatica: calming and regenerating action
One of the most popular active ingredients in skincare today, centella asiatica benefits sensitive hair and scalps. With a calming and anti-inflammatory effect, it reduces irritation and discomfort, promoting balance from the roots.
“Centella improves the environment where hair grows. By reducing inflammation, it promotes the proper functioning of the follicle, stimulates microcirculation and increases the flow of nutrients and oxygen, key factors for healthy growth”, says the educator.
- Inulin: microbiome balance
Inulin represents one of the main transformations in current hair beauty: the focus on the microbiome. Extracted from plants such as chicory, it works as a prebiotic, stimulating the beneficial bacteria on the scalp and promoting its balance.
“Today we understand that the health of the leather depends on this balance. Inulin does not just treat the symptom, it strengthens the system as a whole”, explains Pedro.
With a more stable microbiome, the scalp becomes less susceptible to irritation, itching and unregulated oiliness. The active ingredient reinforces the skin barrier, promoting resistance and balance over time. “It’s a more modern approach, which works on prevention and not just correction”, he adds.
