Former governor declares that the STF’s name is tarnished because of “rotten fruits”
The former governor of Minas Gerais and pre-candidate for the Presidency, (Novo-MG), said that he hopes that the Senate has the courage to continue with the impeachment process of Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court. According to the politician, the STF went from being a respected institution to becoming the “great cause of conflicts” not Brazil.
“I asked for the impeachment of Gilmar Mendes because I think the initiative is appropriate and I hope that the Senate will have the courage to consider it”declared in an interview on Thursday night (23.Apr.2026) on the program “It’s News”yes RedeTV!.
Zema criticized the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP) for not guiding the impeachment processes of Court ministers. “When we have a courageous Senate president, and not a cowed Senate president, this situation will correct itself”he declared.
Tension between Zema and Gilmar escalated after the magistrate asked STF minister Alexandre de Moraes to file a lawsuit against the former governor in the fake news investigation. The request is based on one of the videos from the series “”, published by Zema, in which puppets satirize Gilmar and Court Minister Dias Toffoli.
In the play, Toffoli’s puppet asks for the suspension of the breach of his confidentiality, determined by the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) into Organized Crime. In exchange, Gilmar’s puppet asks for a stay at a resort linked to Toffoli’s family. Moraes sent the case to the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), which analyzes the procedure under secrecy.
Opposition congressmen announced on Monday (Apr 20) that they would file a request for impeachment against Gilmar Mendes following the request for Zema’s inclusion in the fake news investigation.
“I can no longer publish a little doll satirizing the Supreme Court, which has become a source of bargaining. Now I’m the bad guy? That, in my opinion, is an attack on democracy”says Zema to RedeTV!.
“The Supreme Court is the biggest cause of conflicts in the country, especially because the ministers joined forces and got closer to the biggest criminal in the country, Daniel Vorcaro”he declared, referring to the founder of Banco Master.
The pre-candidate for Planalto stated that, as a “indignant Brazilian”, is committed to challenging what it considers incorrect. He classified Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli as “rotten fruit” and stated that STF ministers use their positions to “become rich and have influence”.
Zema declared that, before, nominations to the Supreme Court required effort and credibility, but that currently the process is aimed at people close to the President of the Republic. “At the time of Lava Jato, there was a truth. Now, they only legislate to be media players. They should apply to Hollywood actors”these.
The politician stated that, if he is elected to Planalto, he wants the STF ministers to be investigated. He stated that he intends to end 100-year-old secrecy and provide transparency to his own public accounts.
