DF Court of Auditors will investigate loan to BRB – 06/25/2026 – Panel

The TCDF (Court of Auditors of ) opened an investigation into the loan of R$6.6 billion to the (Bank of ) approved by the Legislative Chamber and asked the local government for explanations about details of the operation.

The decision was made by counselor Inácio Magalhães Filho, rapporteur of the case, who accepted the request made by district deputy Fábio Félix (PSOL) for the court of accounts to determine the real need for the loan that promises to save the state bank.

the deputy claimed that the approved bill does not contain the financial conditions of the loan, such as interest rate, total cost, term and grace period, in addition to the tax impacts.

The court’s technical area suggested opening the process by highlighting the high materiality of the amounts involved in the loan.

“Which carries the risk of causing significant losses to local public accounts, if the financial operation is not properly structured,” he said.

The rapporteur agreed, but denied the parliamentarian’s request, who wanted the court to prevent the Federal District government from formalizing the operation.

The advisor mentioned that the approved proposal was closed with the (Federal Supreme Court) and that, therefore, there would not be sufficient reasons to suspend the operation.

But it gave a period of five days for the GDF and BRB to provide the necessary clarifications on the conditions of the loan.
