Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has authorized seeking the death penalty for nine people after his department lifted a moratorium on federal executions put in place by former President Joe Biden.
“Under the leadership of President (Donald) Trump, the Department of Justice is once again enforcing the law and standing with victims,” Blanche said. Trump resumed federal executions during his first term in office from 2017 to 2021 after a nearly 20-year hiatus, Reuters reports.
