The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) determined this Friday (24) that Ricardo Couto would remain at the head of the government of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the magistrate, the court plenary, in the session on the 9th, decided that Couto will remain in office until further deliberation by the Supreme Court.
When denying the PSD’s request, Zanin stated that the election of the house does not interfere in the decision.
Couto has been in office since March 27, given a request from the PSD for direct elections. Now, for Zanin, the determination is no longer monocratic, as the collegiate has defined this point.
This Wednesday (23), the Assembly filed a request with the STF for Douglas Ruas to temporarily take over the government in place of the judge, as the deputy was appointed head of the Legislature in an internal election last week.
The judge also completes one month on this date.
