Diego de Souza, who confessed to having killed his 3-year-old daughter, little Ayla Neres, said in his statement that he committed the crime in a moment of “outbreak” (see excerpts from the video testimony below). His own daughter’s confessed killer said he did not intend to shoot the child and his ex and that his plan with the gun was to commit suicide.
“It was something that crossed my mind at the time, I regret it a lot, but my plan was to kill myself. I couldn’t bear the idea of her being away from me and staying with another parent. At several points during his testimony, the suspect said he had a moment of panic. “I think it was an outbreak, I know I was very hurt by the [nome da mãe da criança]. She looked like she looked at me, with revenge taken”, he said, without detailing what the revenge would be about. Furthermore, he said that he knew that his ex-wife was scheduled to get married, but that he believed it would be on December 27th.
When asked about being under the influence of drugs, Souza denied it and said he had never been a user. His lawyer, Alexandre de Aquino, has already told RICtv Londrina that he believes the father killed his daughter.
