The police investigator charged an 18-year-old man from Trebišov with the crime of robbery. The case concerns the assault of a young woman in Trebišov on April 22. The woman suffered an injury during the attack, which required medical treatment. Košice regional police spokeswoman Jana Illésová informed about it.
“For this act, if proven guilty, he faces a prison sentence of three to eight years,” said the spokeswoman. According to the findings so far, shortly before 7:00 p.m. on the given day, the young man should have approached a woman who was passing alone on the driveway leading to one of the heating plants in the city.
“He should have grabbed her around the neck from behind, pressed her hard against him and then punched her in the face. Then he should have searched her jacket pockets and seized the financial cash that the woman was carrying,” informed Illésová. The woman defended herself and the man pushed her away, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect fled the scene. The damage caused amounted to 23 euros in cash.
After receiving the report, the police started a search and thanks to their quick reaction, local and personal knowledge of the terrain, they managed to find the suspect in a short time. The man confessed to the crime and was subsequently restricted in his personal freedom. During the proceedings, he also voluntarily handed over part of the stolen cash.
