Mountain rescuers assess the current avalanche danger: What is the situation in the mountains?

There is a slight avalanche danger in the High, Western and Low Tatras on Sunday corresponding to the first step of the five-part international scale. The Avalanche Prevention Center of the Mountain Rescue Service in Liptovský Hrádek informed about it.

The snow cover is generally stable. The snow from the last snowfall has settled and stabilized. On Sunday morning, only light snowfall is expected from 1300 meters above sea level. However, cooling and strong winds will only result in a slight thaw. Avalanche release is possible only occasionally on exposed slopes. Spontaneous avalanches are not expected.

During Sunday the weather will affect the interface between the pressure height and the cold front, it will noticeably cool. It will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light snowfall. The snow cover is generally stable. The snow from the last snowfall has already settled. The continuous snow cover is from 1300 to 1700 meters above sea level. Its height reaches 30 to 150 centimeters, the most snow is in the Low Tatras.
