Datafolha research shows that 45% said they sought alternative sources of income in recent months
A Datafolha survey on Sunday (April 26, 2026) shows that 59% of Brazilians say that their family income is insufficient to pay expenses. 36% responded that what they receive “It’s exactly what they need to live.”while 6% said it is “more than enough”.
The Datafolha survey interviewed 2,002 people aged 16 or over in 117 municipalities in Brazil on April 8 and 9, 2026. The margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus, within the 95% confidence level.
The survey also showed that, among those interviewed, 45% said they had looked for ways to supplement their income in recent months.
The search for supplementing income is greater among those with more education – high school and higher education. This is because, among those with primary education, there are fewer people working or looking for work, as in this group there is a significant number of retirees and housewives.
According to Datafolha, 73% of Brazilians who earn up to 2 minimum wages see their income as insufficient. Of those who earn 2 to 5 minimum wages, 49% responded that their income is insufficient. Among those who receive more than 5 salaries, 32% said that their income is insufficient.
The data also shows that 4 in 10 respondents reported some reduction in family income in recent months. This loss of income was mainly concentrated among Brazilians aged 35 to 44 – almost half reported a decrease in family income in recent months.
