The president of the , senator (PI), stated that he does not see space for a third way in the race for the Presidency as long as (PT) and the former president () “are alive”. The speech took place at an event on Monday night (27) at an event in São Paulo.
“Brazil had four great leaders: Juscelino, Lula and Bolsonaro. For the first time two faced each other. As long as they are in this field, there is no room for a third way”, stated Ciro Nogueira.
For the parliamentarian, he has “every chance” of winning the presidential race in October, but he can “throw it away if he only speaks to the extreme right and listens to his speech from the United States”.
The senator was referring to a conservative event in Texas in March. At the time, Flávio accused former American President Joe Biden of interfering in the election won by Lula in 2022.
Ciro Nogueira was asked this Monday about the possibility of other right-wing and center-right names winning in this year’s electoral race, such as Romeu Zema (Novo) and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), and stated that “there is no possibility of that happening”.
The PP senator was head of the Civil House in the Bolsonaro government and has been critical of Lula since the beginning of the current term, despite having already allied himself with the PT member years before.
The presidents of , Paula Coradi, and , federal deputy Renata Abreu (SP), were also present at this Monday’s dinner, organized by Esfera Brasil, in Jardim Europa, west of São Paulo.
Abreu confirmed his support for the re-election of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) as governor of São Paulo and Podemos’s own candidacy for the state. According to her, there is an internal dispute in the party between federal deputy Delegado Palumbo and Geraldo Rufino, businessman and president of the board at JR Diesel.
Tarcísio, however, has already defined that he will have federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP) as his candidate for the Senate. The other vacancy should go to the current president of Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), Andre do Prado (PL). Former minister and federal deputy Ricardo Salles (Novo-SP) should also apply.
Renata Abreu agreed with Ciro Nogueira’s speech about Flávio’s possible favoritism and stated that Podemos is, today, on the center-right of the political spectrum.
Paula Coradi, president of PSOL, reaffirmed the party’s support for Fernando Haddad’s (PT) candidacy for the São Paulo government. His party, which is nationally federated with Rede, defends Marina Silva’s candidacy for the Senate.
