The Political Commission discusses the clash of transparency and opacity between Seguro and Aguiar-Branco in their speeches on April 25th. The comments are by João Pedro Henriques, Liliana Valente and Eunice Lourenço, moderated by Vítor Matos
In this episode of the Political Commission, we debate the speeches at the April 25th ceremony. The President of the Republic, Antonio José Seguro, was unequivocal in his speech in favor of transparency and scrutiny of political leaders, with a focus on advertising donations to parties. It was a total contrast with the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, who made a caricature of the declaratory obligations of public office holders, and aligned with the positions of the top of the PSD, in favor of easing transparency mechanisms. Afterwards, we still tried to interpret the words of Pedro Nuno Santos, on his return to Parliament and it was not easy.
The comments are from João Pedro Henriquesjournalist for Expresso, Liliana Valentecoordinator of the Politics section, and Eunice Lourençoeditor of Politics, with the moderation of Vitor Matos. Sound design is the responsibility of Salome Rita and the illustration is by Carlos Paes.
