The president of the FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front), deputy Pedro Lupion (Republicanos-PR), meets this Tuesday (28) with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), to try to define a exclusive date for voting on priority agribusiness agendas in the House plenary.
The articulation occurs in the midst of pressure from the ruralist bench to advance proposals that are stalled or awaiting inclusion on the agenda, many of them on an urgent basis. The strategy is to concentrate voting on a single day, focusing on projects considered structuring for the sector.
Among the main themes raised by the FPA are proposals linked to property rights, rural credit, the environment, taxation, agricultural defense, labor and foreign trade.
The attempt to organize a “agricultural day” in the Chamber occurs at a time of competition for space on the legislative agenda, pressured by government political issues.
The assessment of parliamentarians is that concentrating votes can accelerate the progress of proposals considered priorities before the political calendar advances.
The movement also occurs in the same week that Congress can analyze vetoes with a direct impact on the sector, such as those related to Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Company) and rural insurance.
The Joint session of Congress is scheduled for the 30th with a single agenda: the analysis of the veto of the Dosimetry PL. The FPA’s strategy is to try to include both vetoes on the agenda.
