Operation Teia Branca II: man is arrested and around R$4.8 million seized (in banknotes)

In recent days, the PJ launched the “Teia Branca II” operation in the districts of Faro, Lisbon, Leiria and Aveiro, which resulted in the arrest of a man, the constitution of six defendants and the seizure of around 4.8 million euros in cash, which were “hidden inside a false compartment of a van”.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) reports, this Wednesday, the result of the operation “Teia Branca II”, which it carried out in the last few days in the districts of Faro, Lisbon, Leiria and Aveiro and detained, without specifying where, am man on suspicion of “international drug trafficking, money laundering and criminal association”.

Six defendants were also named (two natural persons and four legal entities) and “around 4.8 million euros in cash was seized, hidden inside a false compartment of a van, two vessels (a yacht and a sailboat), two high-end vehicles and some pictorial works, reveals the Judiciary.

“This organization, partially dismantled in the “Teia Branca” operation, carried out last February, aimed to introduce, into the Iberian Peninsula, large quantities of cocaine and hashish, by sea, for subsequent distribution, by land, to other European countries”, reads the statement, which highlights that the only person detained will be “responsible for all logistics of the criminal organization”.

The PJ clarifies that this operation “occurred as a result of the investigations carried out in February, when five foreign citizens were arrested and 1,500 kg of cocaine, 22 high-end motor vehicles, 5 motorcycles, 7 high-speed boats (EAV’s), 7 galleys, 6 AK47 machine guns, a VZ61 Skorpion submachine gun, 2 Glock pistols, several rapid ammunition loaders, 1,300 ammunition, false documentation and luxury jewelry items worth more than two million euross”.
