Since the 80’s that Europe is warming twice as fast as the average for the rest of the world. It is the continent that is becoming the hottest on the entire planet. Heatwaves are increasingly frequent and intense.
Os European glaciers are melting and sea water temperatures are rising to record highswith devastating consequences for marine ecosystems. The data comes from the state of the climate report, prepared by teams of scientists from the World Meteorological Organization and Copernicus, the European Union’s Earth observation program.
Em 2025, several European countries recorded the highest temperature values ever. It was also the year with the largest area burned ever by forest fires. The flows of most European rivers have always been below average and several countries have suffered from months of intense drought.
In northern Europe, Norway, Sweden and Finland faced a three-week heat wave with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius.
All European glaciers lost mass and snow cover, in several regions, was the lowest on record.
With rising temperatures, fires and low humidity, emissions of polluting gases also increased. In other words, the quality of the air we all breathe has worsened. Scientists are very clear: If nothing is done, the situation will only get worse.
